Hydraulic Cylinders

Hydraulic cylinder converts hydraulic energy into linear and moving mechanical

force. Single acting hydraulic cylinders are pressurized to move in only one

direction, while double acting hydraulic cylinders can travel along horizontal (x-

axis), vertical (y-axis) or any other plane of motion. They are used for various

applications including lifting, pushing and pulling. Rod diameter refers to the

diameter of the rod or piston used in the cylinder. Hydraulic cylinders can be

single acting, where the fluid pressure acts in one direction, or double acting,

where the acting, where the fluid pressure acts in one direction, or double

acting, where the fluid pressure acts in both directions. A hydraulic cylinder is a

device in which the cross-section of the piston rod is more than half the cross-

section of the moving parts. Factors such as stroke length, load capacity and

speed requirements affect cylinder selection.
